Happy 4th of July! This month, I have selected this fabulous book, Food That Grows, by Tanda Cook, ND and Sarah Marshall, ND as the BOM (Book of the Month). I was attracted to this book because of the way it incorporates an explanation of natural foods along with recipes I could utilize at a later date. It is also rated five out of five stars on amazon.
The book itself is not a paleo, or any other "diet" book, rather it's more of a guide or book that encourages you to think about food in a different way. It is based on the premise that farm fresh foods are more nutritional and will therefore give you more healthful benefits. I love this because in my quest to be healthier and eat what is right for me, I have also learned that we are not all built the same way. We each have our unique sensitivities and rather than following a particular recipe or diet to a "T", it should be modified to fit our own needs.
The book is broken down in to four parts. The first part gives you both Tanda and Sarah's own personal story and journey with food. It gives the background story as to why the book was even created. The second part of the book gets in to health and gets in to the effects of food and health, even including in depth coverage to dairy and gluten. The third part gets in to kitchen basics and finally, the last section is a recipe section.
The recipes included in the book look so delicious! Look at this work of art below. Recipe is following the image and you'll get an idea of the yumminess in store.
